Early Season Prevention & Management of Aquatic Vegetation

March 17 @ 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Presented by:

Brittany Chesser

Aquatic Vegetation Management Program Specialist, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service

Lead Diagnostic Scientist, TAMU Aquatic Diagnostics Laboratory

Description:

Do you want to prevent your aquatic vegetation issues before they occur this year? If so, join this webinar focused on early season prevention and management.

As water temperatures increase in the early spring, seeds in the sediment and other reproductive structures such as turions and tubers start to generate new plants. Combined with potential heavy spring rain runoff and new nutrients entering the pond, this is the perfect time of the year to start thinking about what preventative and early season solutions fit your goals. Ms. Chesser will discuss various early season prevention and management strategies such as bacterial products, nutrient binders, bacterial boosters, buffer strips, aeration, and other forms of nutrient management as well as watershed best management practices such as reducing fertilization and pond dyes, and even preemptive herbicide use in ponds with historic problems.

There will be a 30-minute Q&A session at the conclusion of the webinar.

This webinar will offer 1 General CEU for pesticide applicators in Texas who attend the session live.
